Five questions, straight answers.
The objections sharp bettors raise before signing up, answered with what the codebase actually does — no marketing varnish.
01 What is +EV betting?
Every market has a fair price — what an outcome is actually worth based on current odds. When a sportsbook offers boosted odds above that price, you have positive expected value (+EV): you're being paid more than the real probability warrants. The formula OddsWatch scores every promo against is EV% = (boosted odds ÷ fair odds − 1) × 100. Anything above 0% is positive EV.
For free bets and no-sweat bets, you only win the profit — not the stake back — so OddsWatch applies a 70% conversion rate to estimate dollar EV. That keeps +15% on a $50 free bet worth roughly $5.25 in expectation, the same math the Free Bet Converter uses.
02 Which sportsbooks do you track?
OddsWatch monitors every promo at all five major US sportsbooks on a 15-minute cadence via a scheduled cron job:
Each scrape compares the sportsbook's offer against live market odds, scores it for EV, and writes the result to the database. Stale entries expire automatically, so what you see is what's actually live right now.
03 How do alerts fire?
When a promo clears the EV threshold, OddsWatch fires an alert through your configured delivery channel. Two options:
Webhook — a POST request to a URL you register. The payload includes the promo details, EV%, confidence score, and expiry time. Wire it to Slack, Discord, a custom dashboard, or anything that speaks HTTP.
Email — a direct alert to your registered address. Includes the same data in a scannable format.
Both channels carry an urgency flag when a promo's expiry window is short, so you know which ones to act on first before the window closes.
04 Is using OddsWatch legal?
Yes. OddsWatch is an odds-monitoring and promotional-lookup service. We surface information about promos that are publicly available on DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and Bet365. We do not place bets on your behalf, hold any funds on your behalf, or interact with any sportsbook API on your behalf — you decide what to do with what we find.
Sports betting itself is regulated state-by-state. Whether you can place a bet depends on your jurisdiction, your age (you must be 21+ where applicable), and the sportsbook's own eligibility rules. OddsWatch is informational only.
05 Who runs OddsWatch?
OddsWatch is built and operated independently. We're not affiliated with DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, or Bet365, and we don't take a cut of any action you place as a result of what we find. Our revenue is the subscription fee — full stop.
We built the automation we wanted to use ourselves: a monitoring agent that does the tedious 15-minute sweep across five books so you can focus on the decision. The system is intentionally transparent about what it knows and doesn't — confidence scores exist because markets move fast and scrapes can lag, and we'd rather surface an honest estimate than a confident wrong number.
For educational and informational purposes only. Not a sportsbook. Not a betting service. Always bet responsibly. 21+ in eligible states.
